The Hirske Oko lake in Putyla District

The Hirske Oko ("Mountain Eye”), or Bukovynske / Hutsulske Oko ("Bukovynian / Hutsul Eye") lake is a blue pearl of Bukovyna and the Carpathians located about 1.5 km East of Nyzhny Yalivets village, Putyla District, 1000m above the sea level.

 

The lake is surrounded by evergreen fir trees. The Hirske Oko is more than 6m deep and its area is over one hectare. The water temperature never rises above 10-12°C even in the summer. This clean environment is a wonderful place for recreation tourism.
