Vyzhnytsia National Nature Park is located in Vyzhnytsia District of Chernivtsi Oblast. In its today’s form, the Park was established in 1995, although the history of its creation dates back to late 1940s. The Park stretches over the interfluve area between the Cheremosh and the Siret rivers. The area now totals 11238 hectares.
The Park's key purposes are the protection of the Carpathian biological diversity, regeneration and rational use of the area's natural resources. Therefore, its territory is broken into the following functional zones:
According to recent researches, the Tracheophyt flora in the Park's territory includes 621 species. Its plants belong to 91 families. The fauna includes 3000 species, 217 of which are vertebrates (84.8% from their total quantity in the Carpathians). Many flora and fauna species living in the Park are included in the Red Book of Ukraine and international lists of animals subject to protection.
